How to Integrate Satellite Images

PTV exclusively provides two-dimensional satellite imagery hosted by HERE. In combination with PTV maps, the satellite images visualise a detailed landscape view. These images are available for several continents such as Europe, North America and Australia.

Caution: Please notice that we don't offer a bird view.

Regarding transparency, performance and accuracy, we recommend deploying PTV's add-on product AJAX Maps beforehand.

HERE's License Agreement

PTV provides evaluation and enterprise license keys by which an access is granted to HERE. Please contact your sales partner to order a proper version. Furthermore, please notice the license conditions as follows:

PTV provides evaluation and enterprise keys.
The enterprise key is valid for an asset-, user- and transaction-based license model according to PTV’s licence conditions. Please contact sales for further details.
Evaluation: 90-day license limited to non-commercial, internal evaluation of satellite imagery. For detailed information, please go to the HERE Developer Center.
Enterprise: The enterprise keys are available for commercial and non-commercial applications. For detailed information, please read the terms and conditions and the End User License Agreement.
PTV provides access to satellite images which cover following continents: Europe, North America and Australia.

PTV advises you to broadcast the following information to your dedicated contact person to achieve an evaluation or enterprise license key:

Company name and contact person
Map provider: HERE or TomTom
Required continent(s): Europe, North America or Australia

How are HERE Platform transactions counted?

One request to HERE Platform is equal to one transaction for all features, except in the case of:

• Map, satellite and traffic tiles, for which a transaction equals 15 requests.
• Batch geocoding, for which the number of transactions equals the number of individual geocoding requests.
• Multi-reverse geocoding, for which the number of transactions equals the number of individual reverse geocoding requests.
• Venue Models, for which a transaction is equal to a json model within a Venue Maps request.
• Street Level Imagery, for which a transaction is equal to a request of a 360-degree view from current location

Testing Satellite Imagery

Setting Credentials

Supply the HERE credentials in your web-application to obtain the 2D satellite images. Following elements have to be acquired before:

app_id	Insert your App_Id provided by PTV (evaluation or enterprise key)
app_code	Insert your App_Code provided by PTV (evaluation or enterprise key)

Using PTV's test page:

In order to open the test page, a valid evaluation or enterprise license key is obligatory which must be requested before. The following test page is enabled to validate the key. Visit the HERE Satellite Sample and follow the instructions.

Migration from existing web-applications with Bing Maps:

If you are using Bing Maps Aerial tiles in your applications, either through PTV components or by directly accessing the Bing Maps services, it will be necessary to migrate to HERE Satellite when you are currently accessing Bing Maps with a key provided by PTV. PTV's keys have been expired on April 1st, 2014 and since this time the service has been provided by HERE Satellite. Please, read carefully our technical migration guide.
