How to Handle Long Postal Codes

The PTV xLocate Server is able to search for special zip codes like 6-digit postal codes in NLD or 7-digit postal codes in UK. This kind of postcode contains ciphers and letters like the following example: L25 7TA (L stands for Liverpool, L25 for district Wolton, 7TA for a small area which is defined by approximately 15 buildings).

7-digit Search in the UK

The input is post code = L25 7TA.

The result is one candidate without more address information.

6-digit Search in NLD

Amsterdam is located between the cipher combination 1000AA – 1099CC, e.g. 1100AA, and 1199ZZ. Between both combinations, it is possible to find several addresses. For example, the output for 1102RR is as follows:
