Installation of Toll Updates

General

Toll updates contain information about vehicle types, toll locations and the corresponding costs. Therefore you can calculate the toll costs for a route.
They are available as compressed binary files.
The toll calculation is available for a lot of countries (e.g. Germany and France) but not for all countries of a map. Moreover only route-related toll (e.g. national toll systems, tunnels and bridges) but not time-related toll (e.g. vignette) is considered.
For PTV xRoute Server 1.12 or later toll scenarios are available. Each toll scenario reflects the toll cost situation at a certain point in time. Depending on the start time of the route, the application can decide which scenario to use. This way, you can calculate future costs long before they are effective in reality.
Please distinguish between toll updates for calculating the toll costs and toll flags for avoiding toll roads. The complete toll flags are always included in the map.

The toll updates are based on the map and version used, i.e. when upgrading your map, you also need to upgrade the toll updates.

Installation of the Data

Initially a map includes the latest toll update at the time of the map release. Between two map releases there are additional toll updates necessary (e.g. some toll provider change their prices at short notice). In order to be informed about new toll updates we recommend subscribing the PTV Developer Blog.

A toll update always includes all former updates of that map, so you only need to install the latest toll update. At the moment there are two possibilities to install toll updates described in the following chapters.

Using the Developer Zone

Download the latest toll update from the Customer Area of the PTV Developer Zone according to the used map . If you don't have an account, please contact your account manager at PTV.
Unzip the Var_Toll_<Mapname>_Upd_<Update Version>.zip file directly to the map folder of the PTV xRoute Server. The map folder is specified in the maps.path key of the configuration file <PTV xRoute folder>/conf/xroute.properties.
Restart the PTV xRoute Server to activate the just installed toll update.

Using the Content Update Service

The PTV xRoute Server 1.17 or later contains the plugin PTV Content Update Service (CUS). This plugin provides polling and downloading of toll updates automatically. The data will be downloaded from a PTV Layer Delivery Server (LDS) providing the latest toll updates.

Expanding the License Scope

In order to use toll updates and therefore to calculate the toll costs for a route, you need to activate the following licence key for PTV xRoute Server:

(e.g. http://localhost:50030/pages/viewLicense.jsp)
